Are you thinking of building your own clock?
oisin · 2025-06-08T07:47:47.995510+00:00
Yeah! Several in fact—I have enough concepts to fill multiple exhibitions, and that's the dream, so I just need to make them now. Currently working on the PCB for my first one, which will ideally be purchasable too. I'll keep quiet on the description for now though, but they're all weird.

If you're following either of my “Clocks” [0] or “Things I've Made” [1] tags, you'll be sure to hear about it when it's done!

Will keep an eye out. I'm playing around with an InkPlate at the moment.

Oh cool, just looked them up—they’re slick! And funnily enough one of the demo images is a 7-segment display. I love the ~skeumorphism of things pretending to be more constrained than they are and I've seen a good few examples specifically of more expressive displays using the 7seg design!

You have any end design in mind?

Thinking weather display like blog.adafruit.com/2023/05/02/a-weather-picture-using-the-soldered-inkplate-10-and-pirate-weather-api-esp32-weather-eink then maybe a push button for displaying the time when needed rather than updating all the time.

Thinking something like this blog.adafruit.com/2023/05/02/a-weather-picture-using-the-soldered-inkplate-10-and-pirate-weather-api-esp32-weather-eink for a weather display then a push button to display the time when wanted, rather than updating all the time.
