I came to this while trying to research the evolution of Georgian fanlight designs and whether there are clear regional differences amongst the major Georgian architecture cities of the world.

AFAICT, seems like people haven’t systematically studied this topic, which is interesting because I frequently encounter claims like “Dublin has an unusually visually diverse and dense collection of Georgian fanlights”. It would be nice to understand what exactly is special about each region’s set of Georgian windows. I will not be providing clarity on why I have such a fascination with these windows at this time, but this particular revival of interest is due to staring at the interior fanlight in Sir John Soane’s museum in London and wondering whether its rectangular base beneath the arched fanlight really is as much of an outlier as it first seemed to me.

Perhaps people haven’t yet studied this systematically because it is bottlenecked by getting someone / something to stare at lots of images and make visual judgments. I sense an interesting new research possibility here for a sufficiently technology embracing historian…
